Google Prize/Swag Portal
What is the Prize Portal?
The Google Prize/Swag Portal is an easy way for Googlers to purchase redemption codes for Google branded merchandise to offer as prizes or swag globally. Why is it so great? Because it offers your teams, users and customers choice in what swag or prizes they can receive, while still meeting compliance requirements pertaining to gift cards.
- For prizes, this allows recipients to choose from a selection of our best selling in-stock items in 4 tiers: $15, $25, $40, and $50. This is reflective of the $50 threshold at go/EmployeeGiveaways.
- For swag, this allows recipients to choose from a selection of our best selling in-stock items in 6 tiers: $15, $25, $40, $50, $75 and $99. This is reflective of the taxable swag thresholds at go/SwagPolicy.
The program is supported by the US Google Merch Shop website, although these prizes can be redeemed globally!
Requesting Codes
Click the Request Codes option in the navigation bar and you will find 3 options: request codes, purchase orders, or request a quote which you may need in order to open a PO. For either payment option, you will be directed to a page where you can select the desired number and value ($15, $25, $40, $50, $75 and $99) of redemption codes. Within an hour, you will receive an email with a link to a Google Sheet containing your codes. Distribution of these single-use codes to your recipient(s) will need to be managed by you. Please note, the Merch Shop cannot send redemption codes directly to prize / swag recipients.

How to Redeem a Prize/Swag
Redeeming prize/swag with a code is easy! Once a recipient receives their single use redemption code, they can access the Prize/Swag Portal two ways : either directly at shop.merch.google/prizeportal or, if they're a Googler, by signing onto the Google Merch Shop site and clicking the “Redeem a Prize” link under the Prize Portal section in the navigation bar.
Once they arrive at the portal, they will enter their redemption code, select their product, and complete the checkout process by entering in their shipping address. Easy breezy.
FYI : Prize or swag recipients will not know what value is associated with their redemption code. They will only see the merchandise tied to their tier for prizes ($15, $25, $40, $50) or swag ($15, $25, $40, $50, $75 or $99). Recipients will only be able to redeem 1 item per code and may not combine multiple codes to access a different tier (i.e. use 2 $25 to get something from the $50 tier).
Redemption codes will be active for up to 20 days and will automatically expire at 11:59pm ET on the date you selected at purchase. The redemption window begins on the day the codes are requested.
Distributing Redemption Codes
Redemption codes are emailed directly to the purchaser so they may distribute codes to the prize winners or swag recipients. Please note, the purchaser (you) are responsible for communicating to prize winners and the Merch Shop cannot send redemption codes directly to prize recipients. If codes are purchased for different tiers, be sure each recipient gets a code corresponding to the correct tier.
Below is a template email outlining important information to send out to prize winners.

Copy: Dear [Googler],
Congratulations! You’ve been awarded a redemption code to the Google Prize/Swag Portal.
To redeem, simply go to the Prize Portal (shop.merch.google/prizeportal), enter your code, select your product, and complete the checkout process by entering in your shipping address. Enjoy!
Redemption Code: [XXXXX]
NOTE : Your redemption code is only valid for xx days! Your code expires [Month],[Day],[Year] at 11:59pm ET.

Billing
Each redemption code purchase will include the cost of the code, shipping ($10 US and $20 international*), and applicable tax for US deliveries. You will only be charged for codes that are redeemed. An estimated max bill amount (assuming all codes were to be redeemed with international* shipping, plus a 9% tax rate) will be provided at checkout and used to place a hold on your credit card or PO. After the redemption codes expire, or after all codes have been used, the final bill amount will be calculated and charged to your credit card or PO for that amount. The final bill amount is calculated based on the actual number of codes redeemed, delivery location, and tax due based on the US zip code of the delivery address. You can also calculate your shipping costs in this sheet.
Helpful hint : If someone does not redeem their code during their redemption window, you will not be charged for the unused code(s).
Credit Card orders will be processed 48hrs after the codes expire. It can take the credit card company up to 5 business days to update your statement with the charge.
Purchase orders will be processed 48hrs after the codes expire. They typically take about a week to process and appear in Ariba.
*Please note that international orders include any shipping destination outside of the U.S.
